Barbara, a really lovely example of your creativity. A great book to have handy to pick up & be refreshed. Also one for the guest room.
Riana –
A beautiful reminder of God’s heart for us and His invitation to come and find rest and renewal in Him. The pictures are warm and inviting and the words on each page like fresh water.
CLARE TOMICZEK –
I know that Barbara’s parable books are truly a work of faith and love, covered by her many prayers and those of others – that God will use her books to touch our lives. So I sat aside and took my time on each page, letting the words and images ‘soak into me’, and in faith, was ‘looking for’ His touch. When in pages 26-27, as I read the words, ‘The Balm of Gilead, where warm healing oil is poured upon the many wounds’; I felt the Holy Spirit near, and some buried grief came up from emotional trauma I had experienced. Then came a very sweet peace. I realised later on, that a physical problem that I had had was gone! Thank you Jesus, and thank you Barbara for this labour of love. I keep her 2 books handy, just even to look through the wording and restful images at times also. I have some to give as gifts too.
Joy Hillary –
This is a very easy read and one I go back to often to be refreshed by. The images are well thought out and the words thoughtful.
Betty Clark (verified owner) –
I like how Barbara describes that she is “painting pictures with words & giving images a voice” The word and the images go so well together. You almost hear the splashing of water and smell the freshness of the greenery to contrast the sense of arid dryness of the desert/wilderness scenes. Something to keep going back to.
Michael Trolove –
This book Oasis is like an Oasis of the soul. It’s simplicity, yet purposeful imagery and prose helps one slow down and rest. To take time-out with Creator God. Thank you Barbara for expressing your gifts so freely.
Marc McF –
Barbara is a wordsmith. The simplicity and pacing of words and image drew my heart to a much needed place of stillness, contemplation and rejuvenation. She is able to translate the deep longings of the soul we often ignore into a way we can receive, making us realize there is a wonderful Father who delights in being near and who leads us to a place of rest. A great book for anyone who feels overwhelmed by the demands of life.
Colleen –
I love the tranquility of the images chosen, and find that just doing a page- through is calming and refreshing. The words on each page are encouraging, easy to read, and not overwhelming.
Well done on another beautiful book!
Lesley Dawson –
Love the way that Barbara is so graphic, yet simple, in taking us from the need to being refreshed and then finding oneself resting and soaking in the Life-giving waters… an oasis for sure in these busy times.
A great read for the guest coffee table.
