This is a most remarkable story, following Son’s journey through WW2 and as an All Black. A real insight into the treatment of our men abroad during turbulent times. Recommended to anyone who enjoys reading about the early days of rugby in NZ, and is moved by stories of the war. Highly recommended. Son’s story has stayed with me for months; it’s not like any other book I’ve read. An excellent read and a great gift eg for Father’s Day, birthdays, Christmas. It is a thicker book than I would normally embark on but it is a real page-turner and I was disappointed to be finished with it.
