Bessie

Bessie is the story of a beautiful Irish girl with a mop of copper hair who is set for a life of hardship in the early 1900s. After taking up a position working for a powerful aristocratic family and meeting a rebel fighter, love and heartbreak will alter the course of her life forever.
Bessie’s tale of hope, love, deep sadness, despair and intrigue is set against the backdrop of Ireland’s incredible political history – the entrenched wealth of English aristocracy, the struggle of Irish nationalists for freedom, the cruel and terrible deeds of the Black and Tans and the Catholic Church’s cultural stranglehold.
