Charlie, Tam and the Singing Canary

Coalburn is a small town on the West Coast of New Zealand. Tam, her dad and her nan were all born there. Charlie and her mum – who suffers from taphophilia – are newcomers to the township.
Charlie loves detective stories. When she sees the name Esme on a neglected headstone in the Coalburn Cemetery, she’s keen to find out more about her. So is her new best friend, Tam. Ernie knows something, but he’s not
telling. Neither is Tam’s nan.
Things come to a head during a walk up to the Midas Hut, located in the hills above Coalburn. Truths are revealed, ghosts are laid to rest, and Esme’s headstone finally reveals its long-held secret.
