Graeme Axford is a West Coast-based human rights and disability advocate, qualified social worker, and longtime campaigner for accountability in New Zealand’s public services. Over more than two decades he has voluntarily helped more than 10,000 people navigate government systems and has taken his own concerns all the way to Parliament through multiple petitions focused on child protection, complaints reform, natural justice, and reasonable accommodation for people with invisible disabilities. Born with severe dyslexia, Graeme was underestimated early in life but turned that struggle into a fierce commitment to speaking up for others. He is the co-author of Differently Abled and has been recognised with two Kiwibank Local Hero Medals. He lives near Greymouth.
