Winds of Change

Things are changing in Charleston, from gold mining to mostly farming. Gold is running out and many miners have left. Others have married dancing girls, bought land and settled. A different type of people are beginning to move into the area and the tempo of the place has changed.
However, life goes on in this old town. People still die, babies are born, and marriage is in the offing for at least two couples. The important bridge that joins Charleston to Westport is destroyed in a storm and the people on the north side are left without contact with the town until a replacement is built. What happened to Silas, who went missing in the first book, is revealed, and other questions are answered.
