World War 1 – April, 1917 – Vimy Ridge, France

Hundreds of thousands of French, English and German soldiers lay dead. The Germans want this ridge and won’t give it up without a massive fight! The French have tried on three occasions and been defeated each time. The British have taken ground, lost it, and remain unable to reclaim what they once called their own positions.
With much regret, the British give up their trench lines to four Canadian divisions. It is the first time all four Canadian divisions have fought together. A contingent of New Zealand underground tunneling engineers are also in the fight. The Canadian offensive upon Vimy Ridge is very close to happening.
