Tyree Lives

The Author relates his life story, and associated political events; of the Cold War arms race, the Vietnam War, the race to the moon, New Zealand’s 1987 Nuclear Free stance, and his own political activities from 1990 to 2001. New Zealand’s economic reforms of the 1980s are referred to, and the associated upheaval in many employment and personal circumstances. A sub-plot refers to the effects of suffering an illness, and how the Author adapted his life with years of casual and part-time work.

Much of the family genealogy was obtained through use of the MyHeritage.com database, where the Author created a family tree with 167,383 entries. The work is illustrated with high-resolution images from the prized Tyree Collection, held at the Nelson Provincial Museum since 1974. The Author writes in a concise, accessible style. The book is divided into six sections, has an index of 760 persons, and five Appendices to assist the researchers amongst us.
