Tūī in a Kōwhai

Tūī is guarding her home in the tree.
Fiercely she squawks, telling all to flee,
Birds, big or small, are not welcome here
Tūī’s a bird who does not like to share.
Then comes a shadow right over her nest.
Can she make Kāhu flee – like the rest?
