Colin Patrick Townsend, author/historian was born in Dunedin New Zealand in 1941. He has lived in Timaru since 2002. He was educated at Tarras, Benhar and at South Otago High School Balclutha. Is now retired and he married his wife Patricia Heather in 1995.
Colin has often been asked to put this collection of stories and articles from New Zealand’s past into a more substantial publication as his earlier works are out of print and hard to acquire.
His published works include Misery Hill a rare look inside New Zealand’s early prison system set in the now non existent Hokitika Gaol. His book Gallipoli 1915 New Zealand’s involvement, has been commended and well received. Colin’s work has also been published in English, Australian and New Zealand journals and magazines.
