The Hyde Railway Disaster

In the winter of 1943 the Hyde Railway disaster occurred. The derailment killed twenty one people and injured many others. There have been enduring physical, emotional and psychological effects for many who survived; they endured financial hardships as they were forced to move from jobs, supportive communities, and the life they knew. These stories have been collected over the years. Many came as a response to the Hyde Memorial Project in 1991 which marked that time in history which changed so many lives.
