For twenty-two years, the author lived on a remote high country station where Mother Nature confronted in the form of floods, gales, snow storms and wild fires. He and his wife Susan raised their children in this challenging location.

Many city folks, who have never encountered the multitude of outdoor experiences of this skilful author, may read this book and consider some chapters are fiction. Not so.
