Sent to live with his grandfather at a beach front property near his high school, Bluey is enthralled by tales of his great uncle’s epic times as an air ace during World War I.

The son of a seventh-generation high country station owner, Bluey is caught up in exciting adventures, including being harassed by deer poachers and taking part in the daring helicopter rescue of an injured climber.

That doesn’t stop him delving further into the past, and Bluey discovers his great uncle set off from Hobart to fly to the west coast of New Zealand but never made it—or did he?

With the help of his original log books and diary, and the contents of his long-stored trunk, the story of Bluey’s great uncle’s exciting life is finally told.
