Recollections of Hometown Greymouth Life in my hometown in the 1930s, 40s, 50s. And his other tales of travels, expeditions, and happenings. Mainly but not all, on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.
Cresent City was one of the first names given to Greymouth in the heady gold rush days of the 1860s. The name is apt even for today, as the Grey River (mawhera) which is crescent shaped and gently flows in an arc from the gorge to the Tasman Sea.
