Ovkors lived in a paddock just outside the little village of Tai Tapu, near Christchurch. He was a very friendly, golden brown horse with a white flash down his nose. One Christmas Eve Ovkors was chewing on his evening hay when he spied bandits heading into the village.

Ovkors began life on the way to pre-school one sunny Christchurch morning after Nick and his sons had been listening to the “Alice the Camel” song. From there Ovkors grew into the hero of this story, the horse who saved Christmas for the families of Tai Tapu, a small village near Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island.
