If nothing else this book creates a good backstory to the sequel “outcast”. A look into a somewhat normal up bringing in Nz and how easy it is to fall into the “wrong” crowd. This novel has a smooth flow through 15 years of Trent’s life. A must read if you want to emotionally connect with the characters before diving into Outcast, the emotional sequel.
