In Memoriam: Mission Ground Cemetery Volume 2

All through the years since closure, descendants had yearned for the names of their forebears to be inscribed on a memorial.
Finally, a cairn bearing sixty-six names was unveiled in 2010 and work began on compiling the first volume of the settlers’ stories. In Memoriam – Mission Ground Cemetery 1840-2010 was published in 2011. By 2017 a total of a hundred and sixty-seven names were inscribed on the cairn. Two additional volumes tell their stories.
The In Memoriam – Mission Ground Cemetery series records the controversial history of the site and draws a picture of the life and times of Whangarei’s earliest European settlers.
