Finding My Field of Dreams chronicles one man’s season long odyssey through the major league baseball parks of North America.
During the Summer of 2012 Peter Grigg took a year’s leave from his job as a P.E. teacher and he and his partner drove the width and breadth of the country viewing games at all thirty ball parks.
From a typical New Zealand rugby and cricket background, Grigg attempts to unravel the mysteries of the sport and, with the help of analogies from his own sporting experiences, explain the intricacies of the great American pastime. In his own unique voice he tells of the many adventures that the couple endured on their travels which also included the Rugby Sevens in Las Vegas, the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, and a Notre Dame football game in South Bend. Grigg follows the one hundred and sixty two game quest that each club goes through as they pursue their dream of World Series success. He describes the action and his take on the game giving the scene a distinctly Kiwi feel.
Peter Grigg is a P.E. teacher from Nelson College. He is one of nine children who were bought up in Christchurch and spent time living in Wellington before shifting to Nelson in 1995. He has a solid, if unspectacular rugby and cricket background both as a player and coach.
